Summary
The Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS) is a frequently used scale for measuring intolerance of uncertainty (IU). Several studies showed that the psychometric properties of the IUS in nonclinical samples are adequate, except for the factor structure. The present study investigated the reliability, validity, and factor structure of the Dutch version of the IUS in a clinical sample of patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), the disorder for which IU is thought to play a key role in the development and maintenance. Results showed that the Dutch IUS is a reliable instrument that is sensitive to change within this specific clinical sample, but with regard to the construct validity and factor structure results were less clear.
